Ky Saxby is only a teen but already, he has faced some of the most challenging aspects of life, including bullying, alienation and that feeling of not being good enough.

After years of relentless taunting, Ky reached breaking point and considered the unthinkable — committing suicide.

Thankfully, those days are behind him now

“You can't change playgrounds — it's way worse then when we were at school,” his dad, Justin explains.  “Years of hell he went through and then he found happiness in his guitar.”

Recently, Ky discovered that he was more than good enough.

On Monday, May 8, in Brisbane, Australia, Ky had an experience he will never forget.  The enthusiastic guitarist was plucked from the front row of the crowd of Green Day's concert, given a guitar and handed the dream of a lifetime — the chance to perform with his idols in the packed Entertainment Centre.

When it came to his time to shine, Ky shone like the star he was born to be, as the video below shows.

Around the 2.27 mark, you will see him come into his element and it will leave you bursting with pride.

“He was dreaming this would happen since last October when I told him I just bought us both tix down the front..  as he’s seen footage of other kids around the world,” Justin told Australia radio station Triple M.

“What a class act Green Day are to young musicians that adore them.

“He was even given the guitar fully signed. After he was in dreamland for a brief period.”

“The rock world lovers should know what an unbelievable gesture this was from the band.”

“This kid is floating above the planet at the moment.”

When we asked Ky what Kindness and Hope meant to him, here is what he had to say: “Kindness is being good to other people. Hope is believing.”

For him, he experienced both in one single moment and it gave him the much-needed confidence and the self- belief that anything is possible and dreams are attainable.

Ky recently updated his Facebook cover photo to show this image from that memorable moment

It should be noted that according to the National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center, approximately 160,000 children a day stay home from school because they are afraid of being bullied. US Dept of Education That's over 3 million students a month. A national survey of kids in grades 6-10, found 13 percent reported bullying others, 11 percent reported being the target of bullies, and another 6 percent said that they bullied others and were bullied themselves. Experts say the facts are troubling, because bullying too often leads to violence, loss of self-esteem, depression and even suicide.
